Joe Bratz- Brass Technician

 

Joe Bratz grew up in western Washington state where he began playing the trumpet at age 10 in the 4th grade. After graduating from high school, he attended Concordia University Wisconsin and earned a BA in music education. Joe had a brief career as a band director and general music teacher before being trained in band instrument repair at Renton Technical College in Renton, WA. He has been the brass repair technician at Melk Music since 2011. Joe has been a national conference clinician for the National Association of Professional Band Instrument Repair Technicians (NAPBIRT) Along with co-worker Bernadette Gonzalez, Joe presents an annual teleconference between repair school students across the country. Joe is an active musician in the Milwaukee area playing trumpet in various community groups as well a services at his church. Since 2012, Joe has been a member of the cornet section of Milwaukee’s national award-winning brass band Milwaukee Festival Brass.
