Amy Hartman
Flute

Amy Hartman is now accepting private flute students at Melk Music. She holds a Master of Music degree from Northwestern University, and a Bachelor of Music degree from the Cleveland Institute of Music. She has a wide variety of experience, including performances with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Lyric Opera Orchestra, the Grant Park Symphony, and many others. She has also performed with pop stars such as the Beach Boys, Jewel, Art Garfunkle, Wynona, and II Divo. Ms. Hartman has held teaching positions at UW-Oshkosh, UW-Milwaukee, Lakeland College, and DePaul University. She welcomes all levels of students.

James F. Matheson, Jr.
Saxophone

James receiver his Master of Music degree in Music Education from Northern Illinois University in 2008. He has been a professional jazz musician for the last 20 yeats performing in various groups and settings throughout Northern Illinois and Southern Wisconsin. He recently relocated to the Milwaukeee area. He is accepting students from all levels of playing ability and at all ages. Pleas contact for more information about lessons.

Dr. Patricia Backhaus
Trumpet

Monday, Thursday, and Saturday lessons
Pat is an internationally acclaimed trumpet and cornet soloist, and has been a successful private studio teacher for over twenty years. In 1997 she was awarded the Certificate of Excellence for studio music instruction by Milwaukee's Civic Music Association. She is an artist/clinician for the Getzen Company, and has performed with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra, the Florentine Opera, Waukesha Symphony, and Racine Symphony. She is active in many professional organizations, has written extensively for many professional journals and magazines, and has produced three CDs of outstanding hymntune based literature.

Gerry Keene
Trumpet

Wednesday through Friday lessons
Gerry is a freelance trumpet player in the Milwaukee area. His education includes a Bachelor of Music Degree from the Eastman School of Music, and a Master of Music Degree from the University of Nebraska. He is currently principal trumpet of the Festival City Symphony, and has played with numerous Milwaukee area ensembles, including the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Bel Canto Chorus, and Bach Chamber Choir. He has also performed in the pit orchestra for touring Broadway productions, and is the leader of the Triton Brass, which performs regularly for wedding ceremonies and other festive occasions.

Jim Kelly
Trumpet

James Kelly is a graduate of University of Wisconsin Platteville, with Masters work from Vandercook, and U.W. Wisconsin. He has been a private lesson teacher for 30 years of beginners and advanced students. He is currently teaching in the MPS school district. He has taught at all ages and would prefer trumpet students. Performing in groups for George Burns, Nick Contorno, Bob Hope, Boots Randolph, Guy Lombardo and Temptations.

Kathryn Krubsack
French Horn and Trumpet

Kathryn Krubsack is the adjunct horn professor of the University of Wisconsin-Green Bay and Wisconsin Lutheran College. Her education includes a Bachelor of Arts in music education from St. Olaf College and a Master of Music in horn performance from UW-Milwaukee. She is a member of both the Green Bay and Kenosha Symphonies, and frequently performs with other orchestras and ensembles in Milwaukee, Madison, Green Bay, and Minneapolis. She is the principal horn for national Broadway musical tours at Green Bay’s Weidner Center and the Fox Cities Performing Arts Center. She has performed with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Bel Canto Orchestra, and the Festival City Orchestra. Her acclaimed recording Class A Horn Solos was released in 1995.

Tammy Enevold
Clarinet

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday lessons
Tammy has more than a decade of teaching experience, including Lawrence University, the University of Kentucky, Asbury College, and Wisconsin Luthernan College. Her bachelor's degree is from Lawrence University, and her master's degree is from the University of Kentucky at Lexington. She also holds a Ph-D in Musicology from the University of Kentucky.

Mike Miller
Clarinet , Sax and Flute

Mike played in the 19th Army band with such luminaries as Grover Washington, Jr and Billy Cobham. He studied in New York with jazz great Joe Henderson. He attended North Texas State University and traveled extensively with many road shows including Motown's Chuck Jackson and Jackie Wilson. Mike has been teaching privately for fifteen years and as a traveling music teacher for Milwaukee Public Schools for seven years. He performs regularly with his own group, The Mike Miller Band, and freelances with bands. Mike teaches all learning levels on sax, flute and clarinet.

Mark Hoelscher
Trombone, Baritone, and Tuba
Monday through Thursday lessons
Bass trombonist Mark Hoelscher freelances with ensembles in Milwaukee, Chicago, and Madison. A member of Chicago's Millar Brass Ensemble, he teaches at the University of Wisconsin-Parkside, Concordia University, Carroll College, and Alverno College. He holds an undergraduate degree in music from Wichita State University, and a Master's Degree from Kent State University. Locally, he has performed with the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee Ballet Orchestra, Present Music, Madison Symphony Orchestra, and the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra.

Eric Larsen
Trombone and all low brass instruments
Eric received his Bachelor of Music, cum laude, from Lawrence University in Appleton, WI, and attended graduate school at the Mannes College of Music in New York, NY. A versatile performer, Eric plays bass trombone with the Fox Valley Symphony in Appleton, WI, and the Swing Nouveau big band in Milwaukee, as well as numerous other chamber-music, liturgical, and commercial groups. Eric has been a teacher of trombone and low brass instruments since 1996, and encourages his students to appreciate the music of the world in all its forms and styles.

David Carlton
Trombone, Euphonium, Tuba

Monday lessons
Mr. Carlton has 30 years of experience as a high school Band Director, currently teaching at Greenfield HS. He also serves as an adjunct instructor at Cardinal Stritch University. His Master of Music and Bachelor of Fine Arts are from UW-Milwaukee. Mr. Carlton currently performs on tuba with the Concord Chamber Orchestra and the Great Lakes Brass Quintet. He also serves as Conductor / Music Director of the Oconomowoc American Legion Band. His WSMA experience includes: Master Adjudicator, All-State Honors Staff, and Music Reviewer.

Kyle J. Samuelson
Tenor Trombone/Bass
Trombone/Euphonium/Bass Trumpet
Kyle Samuelson is one of the most in demand and versatile brass players in Wisconsin. He performs professionally on tenor and bass trombone, bass trumpet and euphonium. Currently he is a member of the Fox Valley Symphony, Green Bay Symphony, the Festival City Symphony, the Racine Symphony and The Skylight orchestras. Some of the other orchestras he often performs with are the Milwaukee Symphony, the Milwaukee Ballet and the Wisconsin Chamber Orchestra. When not playing in a concert hall, Kyle can often be seen playing out with The Mr. Lucky Syndicate, a band that performs a mixture of Swing and R&B, Grupo Kaña-Sugar Cane, a hot new Salsa band featuring two trombones, and Skeleton Crew, a jazz group featuring four trombones.

Joe Kress
Saxophone

Monday through Saturday lessons
Joe holds a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point, and a Master of Music degree from The University of Michigan-Ann Arbor. He teaches in the School District of Waukesha, and is a member of the Knightwind Ensemble and the Knightwind Saxophone Quartet

Erwin Lackner
Horn
Saturday lessons
Erwin's bachelor's degree is from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and his master's degree is from the University of Illinois. He is currently the principal horn with the Racine Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra, and performs with the Wisconsin Horn Quartet. His performing experience includes the Waukesha Symphony Orchestra, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra, studios in the Chicago area, and the U.S. Air Force Band of the Midwest. He also has extensive public school teaching experience in Wisconsin and Illinois.

Doreen Wunsch
Oboe
Monday, Tuesday, and Saturday lessons
In addition to teaching at Melk Music, Doreen serves on the faculties of the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music, Alverno College, and Wisconsin Lutheran College. She earned her bachelor's degree from The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, and a Master of Music degree from the Manhattan (NYC) School of Music. She has studied with Robert Bloom, Ray Still, and Robert Bloom. A member of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra for over twenty years, Doreen brings a wealth of experience in solo and ensemble musicianship to her studio.
